PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Thermoplastic polyolefin TPO waterproofing membrane (referred to as TPO waterproofing membrane) is made from TPO resin, which combines the weather resistance and heat resistance of ethylene propylene (EP) rubber with the weldability of polypropylene. Due to its weather resistance of EPDM rubber and weldability of plastic waterproofing membrane, reliable waterproof effect, and outstanding aging resistance, it has developed rapidly. In recent years, with the development of mechanically fixed single-layer roofing systems, high-performance and energy-saving TPO waterproofing membranes have shown a rapid development trend.
PRODUCT FEATURES
▪ Advanced polymerization technology is used to combine ethylene propylene rubber and polypropylene, combining the excellent weather resistance of ethylene propylene rubber with the weldability of polypropylene.
▪ Special formula technology, without the need to add any plasticizers that can easily make the material brittle, does not produce the phenomenon of general hot welding coils (such as PVC) becoming brittle due to plasticizer migration, and maintains long-term waterproof function.
▪ Excellent high and low temperature resistance, similar to rubber materials, maintains flexibility at around 50 ℃ and mechanical strength at higher temperatures.
▪ Chemical resistance, acid, alkali, salt, animal oil, vegetable oil, lubricating oil corrosion, resistance to microbial growth such as algae and mold.
▪ It has excellent root puncture resistance and can be used as a root puncture resistant roll material for planting roofs.
▪ Heat resistant aging, good dimensional stability.
▪ A light colored surface with white as the main color, smooth surface, high reflectivity, energy-saving effect and pollution resistance.
▪ The lap joint adopts hot welding construction, which can form a high-strength and reliable sealing waterproof layer.
▪ The enhanced TPO waterproofing membrane is sandwiched with a layer of polyester fiber fabric in the middle, providing the membrane with high tensile performance, high tear strength, fatigue resistance, and puncture resistance, making it more suitable for mechanical fixed roof systems.
▪ The fabric on the lower surface of the TPO waterproofing membrane with backing makes it easier to bond with the base layer.
▪ Homogeneous TPO waterproofing membrane has good plasticity and can be processed into various shapes after heating to adapt to complex nodes.

CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGY
Base treatment
▪ The grassroots must be flat, dry, clean, and free from hollowing, sanding, cracking, and other phenomena. Accumulated water, ice, or snow must be removed to prevent moisture absorption in the new roof and layer systems. Before laying the roll material, remove debris and foreign objects from the base layer.
▪ Pre laying of TPO roll material: Lay the roll material in the predetermined position, and the roll material should be flat, straight, and not stretched forcefully.
Mechanical fixation of the coil material below the overlap area:
▪ Fix the coil with fasteners, and the center to center spacing of the fasteners should be determined by the local wind speed, the type of structural base, the height of the building, and the width of the coil, and should not exceed 600mm. TPO coils within 800mm of the surrounding area should be fully adhered.
▪ In addition, at every change in roof height, protruding edge walls, skylights, deformation joints, and around all changes in the inner corners of the base layer with a slope greater than 1/6, as well as at all pipes and pouring sealant grooves, it is required to fix the roll material.
Hot air welding:
▪ Use automatic hot air welding machine or handheld hot air welding machine and silicone rubber roller to weld TPO coil with hot air. At the intersection of all seams, use silicone rollers to roll the seams to ensure continuous hot air welding. The surface irregularity caused by the multi-layer thickness of TPO coil may result in false welding.
Key points for construction of fully adhesive system
▪ The base layer adhesive can be applied to the base layer or the bottom surface of TPO roll material, and the application should be uniform, without exposing the bottom or accumulating (it can also be applied with strip adhesive, point adhesive or empty paving).
▪ The overlapping area is constructed using welding method. The long edge lap joint should be welded first, followed by the short edge lap joint.
▪ The bonding method is applicable to various types of buildings with cement concrete base. The construction process and key procedures are the same as various polymer waterproofing membranes bonded with adhesives.
